Laura Linney, best known for her strong but weak characters, is among of the most acclaimed American actors of our times. Her father was a celebrated playwright, but she was raised as an only child by a single mom who was a nurse. During the summers and with her father Linney discovered a love for theater. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career after her graduation in the year 2000, before making her TV debut in the next year. Since then, she has appeared in countless films and stage and TV productions. Throughout her professional career, she's received many awards, which include 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Despite her numerous nominations, she has a passion for theatre and has appeared on stage and screen.
